about the springbok skins used for our accessories:

due to the high demand for the springbok meat which is being exported to the european market, more springbok are being bred as opposed to simply being wild. As they are ferocious breeders it remains necessary to cull them in the african bush or under farmed conditions. The skins supplied are sourced as a result of a tender process and obtained only from internationally recognized abattoirs. The animals are culled in their natural environment and strict controls are adhered to when the culling season starts, May to September during Southern African Winter. The culling process is managed by each individual farmer who is required by law to keep his or her herd in balance with the seasons in order to prevent over grazing of the very dry and fragile land. All hides are obtained through government approved animal herd reduction programs.
